Generally you can't increase the quality of a video by converting it to another format.

Use your DVD burning software to create a data disk with the AVI file(s). Players vary a bit in their file system support but ISO or UDF format usually work.

And don't create a multisession cd as it might not work that well.

	okay thank you very much

EDIT: how can i add switchable subtitles the user manual of the dvd player says it supports subtitles in divx discs so do i include the subtitles in the iso?
 thanks.

And the reason you decided not to give us the model of your DVD player was ... ? That might have been helpful. Anyway, it depends on your model, but generally you just need to name the subtitles the same as the movie. For Philips players, you don't have to do this, but some players do require this. For example you might have files on DVD called:
 MYMOVIE.AVI
 MYMOVIE.SRT
with the SRT file being the subs. Not all subtitle formats are supported - it depends on the player. With Philips you have to select the subtitles file with the Subtitles button on your remote BEFORE you play the AVI file. Again, we don't know your DVD player model, so things may be different for you.

To burn you just make a data disc with the file as your content. I agree with Baldrick - NEVER make a multisession disc for playback on a standalone DVD player. Most players will only see the first session and nothing else.

Not on the DVP-5960. Pressing the subtitle button while the video is playing is enough. You can cycle through different subtitle files by pressing the button repeatedly. The srt files don't even show up on the player's file listing.Originally Posted by jman98

sorry for not giving the dvd player model its a toshiba sd27e
but what i need to know is when making the iso do i include both the video and the subtitle in the iso or just the video and then the subtitle file seperatly.

thanks for your help so far.

Put the AVI and SRT in the same folder.

What software are you using to make your disks?
-
i was going to use alcohol 120 to make the iso.
 should i use anything else?
 thanks
EDIT:i made a disk by simply dragging and dropping my avi file into my cd writing drive and the disc can be played back on my dvd player so i guess theres no need to make an iso or any other image. so i can just put subtitles on in the same way.Originally Posted by jagabo
