  1. Hi Folks,
I'm trying to capture some Videosequences from a VHS-Tape.
It was recorded in Southamerica, NTSC I guess.
    My VCR shows EP-Playback mode.
I can play the Tape on my PAL-VCR with the switch NTSC 4.33 ON, but I need to adjust the tracking on my TV.
With 'normal' NTSC, the picture is only b/w.

Now my questions: Can I adjust the tracking on my TV-Card too?
Do I need to change the frequency (PAL -> NTSC), if I select NTSC or PAL input?

    THX for help!

  2. I don't think you can do it without a video capable of displaying pure ntsc.

I suspect you video is only capable of playback ntsc. If you try to record from that tape you will get interfernce.

Yes, it is a PAL VCR capable NTSC Playback.
    And, yes, I get interferences...

Do yout think, pure NTSC is the only possibility?

  4. You need a vcr capable of outputting a pure ntsc signal and a vcr capable of recording pure ntsc not pal60.

Try doing this from your pal vcr and you will get lines accross the picture.

I tryed to do the same myself once with an american laserdisc. Didn't work because my vcr would only record in PAL so it was either a black & white picture or interference in the picture.

If you have about 400 pounds you can buy a transcoder that will convert the ntsc signal to pal.

    Hi,
You could try the following drivers with your Fusion (Brooktree) 878A based capture card http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

These will work with PAL 60 but I'm not to sure if they support NTSC 4.43 so you might have to ask authours will they support it if it does not work.

If you can select NTSC 4.43 can you selct NTSC 3.5 which I thinks normal NTSC

Then it looks like you either have a PAL M or a PAL N recording which the drivers will be able to do if your video playing the tape back correctly.

Try setting to NTSC and then set capture software to 720 x 480 29.97fps NTSC to see if you get a colour image. Your TV set will only display PAL so will not play a colour NTSC image so ignore whats happing on your Tv set.

But you might need a multi standard video to play these back on. Which country was the tape from if argentinia or some south american countries it could be in these formats mention above

    Hi,
I have had a look in the World Radio and TV handbook. This says Bolvia uses NTSC M / N in otherwords your signal is a standard NTSC one.

You should now make sure you vcr playing back standard NTSC 3.5Mhz and feed your output into your capture card.

Set your software to NTSC 720 x 480 29.97fps or 640x480 29.97fps depending on what quality you need.

You probally not get a colour image on your TV set if it only supports PAL but you should see a colour picture in your capture software when you switch preview on. Presuming you VCR is capable of sending out a normal NTSC signal.
