i'm trying to backup a dvd called 'pans labrynth'. It saves to my hard drive using dvd dvdfab decrypter & when i play the vob files its fine. I burn it to dvd using nero (havn't figured out imgburn yet) but when try it in the dvd player it just has the film version with commentary over the top & no option to swich it off. Is there anything i can do? I don't even want the commentary backed up, just the film.

Are you making a standard dvd-video? burning the video_ts folder?

You can also rip with dvd fab decrypter and then use dvd shrink to remove the commentary track.

shrink did the job, removed the english audio (it's a foreign film) then burnt with nero & it now just plays the film. weird that it was a problem tho, it's never happened before. it's probably because i was lazy & just let nero do the compression, i normally do use shrink.
thanks very much for your help.

You program is probably set to select English as the default audio track or that DVD may have English set as the first track. If you are backing up a foreign film, you always want to check the audio track before burning, especial if it's a foreign language film.

That's correct. I had the same problem with a Rainer Werner Fassbinder movie. I accidentally ripped the movie with English audio commentary instead of German dialogue. You have to untick "English" and tick whichever foreign language it was recorded in.

As I mentioned in another thread there is an additonal problem getting Pan's Labyrinth to default to English subtitles on all players. This well-know hack works with some players but by no means all:-
