Chrysler Pacifica DVD

Hello,
I have a problem. I've bought a Chrysler Pacifica(2004) and DVD doe not play a non-US DVD's. It is a big problem for me 'cause I live in Europe. Does anybody knows how to hack a regional code or maybe someone can tell me what kind of player (model nr.) is installed in my car?

I've never seen any unlock codes for audio players. The players and firmware are specfically made for use in cars, so their likely isn't any reason for any codes to exist.

I would guess the vehicle is one for the US market. It was made under the Diamler name but is no longer.
I believe that on another site, A person in the military was transferred to Europe and had his car sent there. They had the same problem.
It was sometime back but I believe they contacted Diamler/Crysler and reported the problem solved
If not already contacted you might give them a try

I think he meant "auto"....
But he is right...hacks for car players are pretty rare. You may be forced
to backup(copy) any DVD you wish to take on the road and watch.
It sucks but...it may be your only option.

A number of autos [vehicles] were made with DVD players installed, They were CP compliant and the region code set for the region sold in.
I do not believe the units were hard wired for a region, rather they were set for the region sold in.— [firmware]? [This may vary for different manufactures]
There were not a large number of DVD units out at the time but this is increasing.
I do not know of any manufacture or dealer that, if possible] will just alter these region codes except in a case like this.
The unit is as posted a DVD and I do not believe Den2 meant auto.

Prior to doing anything I would contact Diamler , not a dealer. And see if they can correct the problem. They should be able to state the unit manufacture and if the problem can be corrected
Diamler is a German Firm
If a change cannot be done, I would think the only options are to replace the drive, it could be costly, OR get a portable DVD unit that operates in vehicles

Auto as in DVD player created for auto use. Sorry if I wasn't clear, typing without reading.


DVD player "hacks" are just codes that unlock features/options controlled by the firmware. They are mostly found in players sould by manufacturers that use firmware among different models that are often sold in different countries. Some manufacturers, such as Sony and JVC, spend the extra time to lock the firmware to prevent such hacks from working. Players for automobiles fall into the same category as Sony and JVC. They are created for a specific use and locked to prevent tampering. At least I've never seen or read about a hack for any auto based player.

However, as another user pointed out, try contacting the manufacturer. They will likely send you an altered firmware so that you can update your player.

That's deal with factory installed DVD player in car/van. They fit great, with built in remote into the car. But they cost twice as much, and non-hackable.

Et USA playeris filme vaadata on vaja kahte aja:
1) peab saama lahti regionaalsetest piirangutest
2) video peab olema NTSC formaadis (Euroopa omad on reeglina PAL)

Mina lahendan probleemi plaadi kopeerimisega NTSC formaati. See aitab ka regionaalsete piirangute vastu. Võtad video, tõmbad arvutisse ning teed sellest koopia. PAL formaadis plaate ei saagi otse mängima panna.

There are aftermarket pieces to give you a video input into a factory monitor. They are vehicle specific so I can't say for sure there is one for your vehicle. You should go to a shop that sells and installs aftermarket car stereos. They are the ones that sell vehicle integration products like that. If you can get a video input adapter you can use another DVD player or any other source you want.

Other than that you should just purchase a new aftermarket radio. Not only will it give you the right region code that you are going for, but you will have better sound quality and the options to add things like bluetooth, ipod, USB inputs, etc, etc. Personally I like Alpine head units.
