  1. doesnt matter if i do it as a M2v or an mpg or with or without audio, my video is choppy. I am converting to MPG2 a D2V that links to a VOB ( i dont know where this forum draws the line between ripping and converting, so tell me if this should be in ripping). the audio is fine, only the video is messed up. the vob is from a DVD so i loaded the DVD(NTSC) settings an then unlocked them. its a film dvd so i changed it to 23.9fps and i made everything that said "interlaced" say "non-interlaced" or progressive. i set the aspect ration to 16:9. And here is where i think the problem is: in motion search, the last setting on the first page... default it's on Motion estimate search (fast) or something like that. if i change it to "High quality" my computer reboots a little while into the encoding, which option shoudl i choose? and am i overlooking something else that i should select to smooth my output?

  3. i got it...what i was doing was using the D2V file that smart ripper generated, this is BAD. make your own in DVD2AVI, make sure Motion search precision in TMPGEnc to Motion search estimate(fast) and ti should work fine
