I just bought a Dazzle Video Creator Platinum (Link Below), and it works great for capturing video from my Sony Handycam, but no so great for capturing video from my ClearPlay DVD player (Like Below). The Dazzle DVR will record the video from my DVD player, but it records it in black and white; I'm guessing this is from the macrovision protection.
I am not using Pinnacle Studio Plus v11 to capture the video, but I am totally open to suggestions for using other software if need be. However, I am using Windows Vista, and this is the first DVR application I have found that works well on Vista. I also have a Hauppauge 500 installed on this PC, and my video card is an ATI x1900xtx, which also has the video in functionality too. I am not sure if it is the Dazzle DVR or the Studio Plus software that is blocking (macrovision) the DVD from recording correctly, but I need to be able to copy the edited DVDs from the ClearPlay DVD player onto my PC, so I can stream them throughout my house via my two XBOX 360 media center extenders. I would try capturing the video via my Hauppauge 500, but it does not show up as a device in the Studio Plus software.
So my question is, how can I capture video from my Clearplay DVD player to my computer in color as it should be? Thanks in advance, Jon

You shouldn't need to 'capture' from a DVD. There is plenty of software available to rip DVDs directly to your computer.

I must have been too vague in my above explanation when I stated (I need to be able to copy the edited DVDs from the ClearPlay DVD player onto my PC). I am fully aware of how to rip a DVD to my computer using software like DVDShrink, but that won't help me in this situation.
ClearPlay DVD players use filters edit out non-family appropriate content from DVD movies. I do not watch rated "R" movies, but with the ClearPlay DVD player I can still watch them, by removing sex, curse words, and extreme violence; I usually leave most of the violence in the movie
Using this DVD player you can choose which filters you want to be on (sex, violence, profanity), and to what level the content is filtered. I could just burn the movies, but I would rather put them on my PC edited mpeg2 files, so I can stream them to mt extenders; plus, this will stop my kids from ever watching the content without the filters turned on; at least in my house anyways.

Ah, I see. Have you been to the Hauppauge site to see if there are drivers and a WinTV 2000 version for that infernal 'Vista' OS? I'd try your 500 card if you could because my Hauppauge PVR USB2 seems pretty immune to MacroVision and other copy protecting interference.

I have also been working on a way to capture the output from ClearPlay. After several months of on again off again work, I've done it. I have a Sony HandyCam with audio/video in via RCA and a Fire Wire out. Connect ClearPlay to the camcorder and place the cam in play/edit mode. Enable the dv out. Connect the firewire to the PC. Using software such as WinDV or 1 click-dv-to-dvd, capture the stream from the cam. Beware!! I captured Fantastic 4 and it was 22 GB for 1hr 45min. From here it must be transcoded to mpeg2 and authored to dvd. I've had audio sync problems after transcoding, I'm running it through TEMPGEnc right now, hopping to solve the sync issue. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I was actually able to capture the video from my ClearPlay DVD player using the A/V ports on my Hauppauge 500 (not S-video) and Pinnacle Studio Plus v11. Pinnacle Studio Plus v11 allows me to capture the stream as basically whatever file type I want too.
Thank you, Jon -
