1) I record an NFL football game on my Panasonic DMR-E80
2) Transfer it to my computer via Panasonic's DVD-RAM disc
3) Do various editing on my computer via the usual software (vdub, etc)
4) Convert the edited clip to mov format (Final video for computer monitor playing ONLY)
I apologize for such sophmoric questions, but can I do all of this if I upgrade to a HDTV receiver and HD-DVR? Would there be any visual quality advantage in the resulting video (I suppose I'd have to reduce the resolution of the HD video so it plays on a "regular" computer monitor).
I'm not asking to be spoonfed, but I sure would like a pointer or two on if I'm way off base on this thing, or where on this site I can go to learn this. In the meantime I'm just gonna start to plow through the site one subject at a time.
Thanks again.

Tivo has an hd box now. However there to go service to take them off the box for conversion is still disabled I believe.
Another alternative is to get an hdtv capture card for your computer. Than you can record into .tp or .ts (some do .mpg). Then you can edit and downconvert and burn as you please.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
