  1. Hi,
I"m new to HDDVD and need to know some basic question regarding burning HDDVD's.

1, Can HDDVD's be burned on NON HDDVD laptop (like sony FS 500) ? If not then what i need to do to burn it??

2 What tools are needed for backup and burning? can it be done by ripit4me/Dvd shrink and Nero?

3 What kind of discs are needed to burn HDDVD? will it work with the normally available dvd-r.

Would really appreciate if someone kindly let me know about it

    thanks

    1. Only to DVD. There is a method of burning HD DVD to standard DVD media and having them play in HD DVD players. They will not play in standard DVD players. You will also be limited to around 40 minutes running time a DVD-9.

    2. AnyDVD. Standard DVD ripping tools, especially those out of production, like DVD Shrink, will not work.

    3. See point one.

If you want to make full blown copies of HD DVDs then you will need HD DVD blanks and a HD DVD writer. You can write DVDs in a CD writer, and you can't write HD DVDs in a DVD writer. (and I don't want smart-arse responses about multi-format writers from the pedants. You know what I mean).
