  1. i keep getting this error telling me that my laptop couldnt change resolution to 640x480 and tells me to change to that setting as well as set the monitor colors to 256. i have windows vista and i have tried everything, installing it couple times, no go. right click properties and compatibility tab and no go. if i change to windows 95 it tells me that the cd is no in the drive even if it is. its making me mad cuz one of my friends has the same laptop (toshiba A250) new customized and the only diff is the video card, mines ATI 2400 hd and his is nvidia go 7300 (r something like that) and it runs fine in his computer, any help will greatly be appreciated.

Starcraft is listed as working on this Vista compatibility page: http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_Vista_Software_Compatibility_List#Games

Which seems to mean it should work. You might look for a forum at the manufacturer's website for the game and you may find what 'trick' is needed. Maybe here: http://www.blizzard.com/starcraft/

It's strange that it would want you to use such a low resolution and color setting.

Laptop and ATI 2400 hd ???

Think your running what vista thinks it found , which isn't whats installed .

Check your gpu chipset according to documentation of laptop ... head to http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html ... you should be looking at "mobility radeon" group .

Try the DNA drivers instead .

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1656

    Or omega drivers .

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1411

Yes , the warning says you have not made the applicable changes to run the game ... but your current video drivers don't know what 640x480 is ... the dna or omega drivers may resolve the problem and give you the option to set 640x480 , 256 colour .

But its an old game , which should have set warning bells ringing ... one look at its pc specs says "trouble ahead" for any recent system .

econtrerasguzman hasn't visited our site in about a year, so probably not.

  12. hey i did fix this problem, http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php has the drivers, follow the steps they say in there
1- download the latest ATI drivers( i suggest from driverheaven directly and not ati.com)
2 - follow the steps on there and everything should work great!

let me know if you have any problems installing them, make sure you read the steps carefully and do as they say, they are pretty easy to follow and do make sure you turn off UAC cuz that can mess up a lot.
