Hi guys, Ok heres the deal. I have a video with Japanese audio, its a DVDR video so VOB IFO files ect, I also have the audio in english but its slightly awkward as the audio has advert breaks in it and the original does not, so during the adverts im happy to keep the Japanese audio, but id like to get as much audio english as possible.
Ive used VOBEdit to demux the files into .m2v and .ac3 files, i just need help finding the appropriate software to over lay the audio in the selected areas of the video, i think im able to cut ac3 files but im gonna need to join and do the overlay/replacement audio.
Hope im making sence and any help will be appeieciated.
Cheers

An NLE would make it a lot easier to do this kind of project. If I were to do this I would use adobe audition. Make an avs script of the .m2v file and load it into the editor. Load the english audio. Put the avs file onto one track, and audio in another. And you can do all the editing you need in this editor. It has a real time preview you can check to see if it's in sync. And when done downmix to the new pcm wav audio. And convert back to ac3. Author with new audio.

Thanx for the info, but i have to say Audition seems very complicated to use i cant really figure it out, is there anything more simple please?

We understand what you want to do, but no, there's no simple way to do this. I have been doing video work on my PC for almost 6 years now and I am not a novice. I can tell you that I would NEVER do what you propose because it simply would not be worth the time and effort it will take. The only audio editors I know of that can handle AC3 are all complicated to use, maybe too complicated. You could fairly easily replace the entire Japanese soundtrack with a complete English soundtrack (assuming you can get such a soundtrack), but to replace bits and pieces is a very complex procedure.
