I have just bought some songs off a person.
I am very fussy with quality.
He sold me 17 of his tracks at 192 kbps.
But the thing is, when i listen to them they sound like they are at 128 kbps. I think hes gone and converted them from 128 to 192 kbps. What i was wondering is, if there was a way to find out if he has done that or what the original bitrate was and if its ever been converted etc..
Basically i wanna find out what the REAL bitreate is maybe is theres a real bitreate detector out there tht detects the proper bitrate by the sound of the quality of the song...
Cheers guys.

Nope. You can only see what the current bitrate is, not what it might have been in the past. Remember also that the bitrate, while important, is only part of the equation. Not all encoders are created equal. Just as two different video encoders can produce different quality from the same source at the same bitrate, so to can two different MP3 encoders.
