This application used to work fine for me, but now it can't burn a video file I have. The strange thing is Nero(which was bundled with my external burner) can and does burn all my video files very easily. I still want to use ImgBurn though. All I need to do with the file is burn a data dvd (my DVD player can handle xvid's and many other files) . Has Nero somehow become the default appp? I would like to be able to choose which app to use. Possibly I am doing somthing wrong with ImgBurn, but I manged to make it work in the past. All I need to do is put ImgBurn in the write mode, Is that correct?
Any help would be appreciated thanks...

If you want to burn the file as-is, as a data DVD, you need to use "Build" mode. "Write" mode is for burning a pre-existing image file (ISO/BIN/IMG/etc).

I can't comment about Nero 7. I recently decided to buy and switch to Ones and I couldn't be happier.

As far as IMGburn what exact is it doing or not doing? It doesn't even give the OPTION to burn a file?

I would uninstall IB, then re-install the latest version and see if that helps.

I burn data discs every day with Imgburn without any problems. As Jim44 pointed out, you must be in Build mode, and you should set the target to disc, not ISO

ImgBurn is an excellent application. The things that it does, it does very well. I highly recommend it as a first choice app. It coexists on a system with Nero just fine. Nero is a good general purpose application. It's good for a novice user who needs a suite program with a good assortment of functions. It's encoder is fairly good. There are better ones for sure, but it's not bad. But there are those who are Nero detractors no matter what. Whatever problem a person may have, these Nero bashers can't wait until they launch into their "Get rid of Nero" rant. Your video card goes bad, "Get rid of Nero"; your systems locks up when it boots, "Get rid of Nero"; the weather man forecasted clear weather but it rained, "Get rid of Nero". When it gets this ridiculous, you're getting some insight into these peoples personalities rather than getting some good advise.
