  1. i have captured a few videos in mpeg 1 22mbps and created a VCD using Nero burning at 24x. I notice during playback that sometimes the audio/video skips. no problem playing back on my pc.

what can i do to fix this problem? slow the burn speed?

how can i enable DMA if that option is not listed when i go to control panel?

  2. DMA settings is easy: go to "my computer" ----> control panel ----> system....select the device manager tab, select the cd-rom drive, right-click properties, click the settings tab and check or uncheck dma. restart and all should be well :) As for burning, well I have a very old 2x burner but I have read many posts about problems burning at higher speeds. What you first want to check is if your cd-r actually supports 24x burning. If it does try to burn at 8x and see if that fixes it.

  3. I can enable DMA on the CDROM's but there is not DMA option under settings for the drive.

question: what is the sync data transfer and disconnect options? i these were checked so i checked them as well on my cd burner - is that ok?

  4. I think those only apply to scsi devices......you know windows does have a help function!!! rightclicking on any of those would give you a "what is this?" thingie :)
