    Does anyone know of any free programs that can burn an Avi movie to a dvd (i have a dual layer burner, but i have both regular and DL discs) and be able to watch it one a regular dvd player on my tv?

  2. ConvertXtoDvd (not free) easy to use,but look for the old free DivXtoDVD 0.5.2 .or buy a dvix/dvd player like the Philips 5982

    I like FAVC, and use the HCEnc encoder gives great quality. If you know a little avisynth you can add your own filter combinations to the encoding path as well. Very good for a freebie, and well supported by it's author.

    DVD Flick is another free alternative.

    what about Nero or Ulead???

    i am using them from long time, i find them perfect.... i don't know what would other say about those programs.

    The OP wants freebies, Nero and Ulead don't qualify.
