  1. I just got Vegas 7.0 . Within a DVD I want to show a grid similar to the Tennis Championship or College Basket Ball Playoffs Grids.
Any suggestions how to do this and with what software (that can be imported into Vegas 7).
I am not an expert and am looking for something "simple" and "reasonable".

  3. I am trying to create a "legible" grid similar to sport grids thus:
You have i.e. 10 teams listed on one side.
    Team 1 plays Team 2
Winner of Team 1 against 2 plays winner of Team 3 against 4
    Team 3 plays Team 4

and so on ..... and on ...

In between the different games is the grid.
If possible show team logos (pictures) in addition to Teams names.

Any advise on how to create such a grid.
Thanks - and please keep it simple.

The grid itself is pretty much static, so I would create it in a graphics program like Photoshop. If the logos are static (i.e. not animated) then they could be included as well. Horizontal lines should be 4 - 5 pixels in thickness to avoid interlace flicker. The text and other dynamic elements are then added in Vegas as required.

If you aren't sure how to add text or other elements, then look up Media Generators in the help files. There is a Text Generator. Add this to a row above the grid, then position as required using the Position Tab. Animated logos can be added in the same manner - to a timeline above the grid, and either need an alpha channel, or you will have to do some keying.

  5. Thanks for the info regarding Photoshop.
Do you know of any other software that does not cost close to a grand (and has an easier learning curve) ?

The Gimp is free. It can be a little temperamental under Windows, but can do a lot of what Photoshop can do. Corel have Paint Shop Pro. There are also a few freeware graphics apps that can do simple things like grids pretty easily.
