Which tool or set of tools FOR THE MAC to convert .mkv files to anyquicktime WITH these options:
A - ability to select a sound track if more than one is available
b - ability to select a subtitle track
in VLC thes options come standard but after macupdating, versiontracking and googling the only apps seem to be VisualHub which does not have these capacities although he does convert (but no choices and no subs), and FFMPEGX crashes on my INTEL MAC for any subtitle operation and Major only suggestion is to use the previous binaries, which still do not help on Intel Macs.
I installed Perian but quicktime Player is a great engine but ver 7.2 just gives problems
Same with FLASH files how to convert them to any QUICKTIME?
Thanks you all for whatever you suggest me.
BTW anyone is comfy with Intel Macs? I do regret selling my PPC machines

I guess I'm the lucky one.
Perian 1.0, installed in Quicktime Pro,
plays and enables me to convert all
the flash files I have to other formats.
As far as MKV, or OGM for that matter,
I use Merkonk's wonderful MoKgVm2DVD
which allows me to take MKV or OGM,
and embed english subs in jap language mkvs,
into new xvid AVI files, that I then burn with Toast.
That way I don't have to worry about selecting
a subtitle.
But if I did want the ability, what I would do is
Open the MKV in Quicktime Pro or Compressor
with Perian 1.0 installed, and spit out all the tracks
necessary for a dvd: a m2v video file, a jap lang .aiff,
and an eng lang .aiff. I then would use the mkvextract
command line tools to extract the subtitle .srt file,
and then drag and drop that into Subtitler to get
a compatible DVDSP .stl file, and then build the whole
thing in DVD Studio Pro."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

When I'm not here, Where can I be found?
