    I encoded a couple test videos with both AviUtl and VirtualDub. One was a DV AVI file, the other a short VOB file (via DGIndex and AVISynth) that was ripped from a DVD. I used Xvid (target quantizer = 3) and Lame (192 kbps CBR) with the same settings. I did no filtering with either program. The size of the resulting AVI files was nearly identical. Less than 1 percent difference between the corresponding files.

    I'm not sure why you're getting such big differences.

    i don't see how they ever could be different.

    i'm interested in aviutil 0.99.
    anybody have it? and can upload?
    or at least know what changed from 0.98d to .99?

    out of mere interest.
