  1. I have 2 PAL widescreen dvd mpeg files, and want to join them into one without changing anything and without an unnecessary rerendering. I checked various softwares but still havent found any that does it this way. most videohelp guides just deal with progs that can merge mpeg1 and SVCD mpeg2, but nothing seems to do DVD mpeg2. or am i just too stupid to find the right one?

    VideoReDo will do the job.
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

    MPEG STREAMCLIP can do it. And it's freeware too.

    VideoReDo and MPEGVCR can do this. In the past I have never been impressed with any of the free solutions for this, but I have to admit I have never used MPEG Streamclip and know nothing about it.
    You can "try before you buy" on both VideoReDo and MPEGVCR, so there's no money to be lost by trying them out.
