  1. I got avi that has little too much brightness on it. What's the best and easiest way to change avi color settings? Is it VirtualDub?

  3. Levels, HSV, or Brightness/Contrast filters in VirtualDub are pretty easy to use.

Give VirtualDub a try. You can reduce brightness, but if there is no detail in the overly bright parts, you can end up with 'muddy' looking highlights.

I would try the 'levels' filter in VD first and check it with the preview in different parts of the video. You may have to fine tune the color or saturation with the 'HSV' filter or maybe the 'brightness/contrast filter'.

Lots of other VD filters available at http://www.thedeemon.com/VDFilter/list.html or http://neuron2.net/

EDIT: If you use any filters, you will need to re-encode the video by selecting a compression codec and settings.
