  1. Hi,
I have a Dell laptop (D620, dual core, 800MHz with 1Gig of Ram) pretty powerful in terms of processing power. I have another old HP Desktop..must be 333 Mhz with 256MB Ram.
I use audacity software to do voice recording on my Desktop. Results were reasonable.
However, when I tried recording using my new Laptop, I am noticing a lot of delay in voice...If I record my voice (through Mic) playing a karaoke track using audacity, I can easily see that the recorded vocals lags the music track as if the sound processing is not real time.

I noticed similar thing with my old desktop but the delay was less noticable.

Does any one knows what the reason is and what the solution could be.

Have you tried record with something else to see if you get same problem? Could be some sound card issue.

Only powerful if both cores are running. If you are running XP there are two updates which may be necessary to enable both cores. Even so audacity probably will only use one core.

Once again it looks like Dell gives you less bang for the buck. Just about any HP, Toshiba, Lenovo or Acer in the stores has a faster processor.
