DVD DL = DVD, Double Layer

I wasn't aware that Packard Bell manufactured standalone DVD Recorders (not computers with burners - more like a VCR)

Sadly, the quality of DVD recorders has reached the point that recommending a China made one is something that I don't want to do at the moment. I've tried Toshiba, but returned to Panasonic DVD recorders for transfer work. I have a PVR PC, which works nicely - but is connected to a projection TV which makes computer work on it a bit tedious. It does record at an excellent quality - even as well or better than any of the standalones (in 2 hr mode - 1 hr is still better on the standalones).

If you had a good experience with the JVC, you may want to search for another.

Do you mean you've got rid of it. Or do you mean its packed in, if so after how long?

No I still have it. Its been 14 months since I got it. Ive recorded a tonne on it, but I saw the signs a couple of months ago when it started malfunctioning using certain types of media. I thought it was the media at the time but as I went along it stopped working on all types of media. It would record and then when the recording was stopped the recorder would shut down, or just spit the disc out as an error. I figure the burner is shot.
