  1. I just got a new 8600 GT from ASUS, and when I watch video files it constantly readjusts the contrast by itself. Does anyone know how to fix this, or turn it off? (IT is very annoying because sometimes it does it more than 1 time a second)

    Thanks

try playing them in different software player. it might not be the card. i've used a lot of nvidia products and never once in 10 years had one adjust anything by itself. you might also try downloading and installing the latest driver.

if it wasn't the exact same card in there before the driver may be whacked. as a last resort you could try computer properties hardware and uninstalling the card from windows and letting it "find new hardware" again. it will sometimes clean out the out drivers more thoroughly if it goes into vga mode first.

  3. I have tried the drivers.

I have 7 players and they all do it to some extent.

It is possible that it is the screen tho, but I have never heard of a monitor adjusting itself all the time like that. I just got a new SAMSUNG 24inch.

  5. No, it doesnt work either.

I am pretty sure this is software or hardware related to the card.

check your nvidia control panel. i don't recall ever seeing a "auto adjust setting" option in the driver but maybe with a new 8 series card?

does it happen with any other video displayed? game, desktop, app, etc....
