Cool. I have not long started using FAVC, and like it a lot. I started with it because a) I like HCEnc, and b) I had a couple of very nice quality MKV AVC videos and while ConvertXtoDVD would convert them, it had slight audio sync issues throughout. FAVC did a flawless job with a 2-pass VBR. Great tool, Mr_Odwin.

Just wanted to post my appreciation of this tool.
Been using it for a few weeks now and am very, very impressed. Makes the avisynth process very easy for a beginning like me. The video quality I'm getting from using HCEnc is terrific.
I do however have two slight issues:
1) Is there any way to disable the authoring? I'd like to continue to use GUI for DVD Author to create my menus and mux, simply because it's more flexible. Until now I've just been selecting the "Keep working files" option and using them, deleteing the DVD authored by FAVC.
2) I have some AV sync issues with a couple of files. One of them is particularly bad in that the file gets progressively further out of sync (3 seconds at one stage) getting a wee bit better later in the 51 minute home movie. I'm sure there is an easy way to improve the results, but I've missed it.
Any advice gratefully received, but please do accept my thanks for the many succesful conversions thus far. -
To answer your questions
1. No. The current version authors every time. Your solution of keeping the working files is the simplest. The other choice at the moment is to go to the Advanced Scripting tab and tick the box marked "Don't Start Batch File". You can then go and edit the batch file yourself and remove the authoring section.
2. There is nothing you can do in FAVC to fix this. It depends on what the cause is as to how best to fix it. It could be as simple as saving a PCM version using virtualdubmod, replacing the source audio with the PCM version, then processing in FAVC. Or it could be more complex.Read my blog here.

Thanks very much for the reply.
Will use the edit batch file option. It's not at all a big deal, was just curious.
Yes, going to try stripping out the audio from my DV files using VirtualDubMod before I start the FAVC process. We'll see how I go with that.
Thanks again.
