First of all, this is the hardware I own and that is part of the problem I am having:

    Motorola MoxiBox BMC9012
    LiteOn 1107HC1

I am currently trying to use my DVD recorder, a LiteOn 1107HC1, to record a TV show that I previously recorded with my MoxiBox BMC9012. So I basically just want to record the show while the MoxiBox is playing it in real-time. Unfortunately, the DVD recorder won't even start recording but displays a message saying "Protected Content" instead. I suppose this is due to the DRM that is implemented in the MoxiBox. Is there any way to work around this? If necessary, buying new hardware is also an option. It must work with the TimeWarner cable subscription, though, since that is something I cannot change. Are there DVD recorders that won't detect DRM? Or, even better, are there other set-top boxes that I can use with my TimeWarner subscription that do not have DRM or allow me to burn DVDs using an internal DVD recorder? I just had a look at the Polaroid DRA-01601A but am not sure whether it fulfills all my requirements.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

Some content on cable is protected and some can't even be recorded. I don't suspect you have this issue with all content recorded on the Moxi. If you do, then I would suspect a Moxi issue. There isn't a way to remove the DRM. Some of the Moxi boxes have built in DVD recorders, but even those won't burn DRM protected material. DRM is most commonly used by the movie channels (HBO, Showtime) and by the Pay Per View channels. I've also read where some DRM encoded programs will auto delete after a specified time frame.
