HI! I'm new here, I find this forum very interesting, but I'm looking for someone to help me!
I have a 49 minute long (PAL) 25 frame non interlaced format (created with Pinnacle titanium edition and transformed to AVI), with dialogues and music. I need to tranform it into something wich has a professional (movielike) touch 8) , and I heard about the frame rate conversion from 25 to 24! Is it true...? I have Tmpgenc, but I 'm not an expert, what do I need to do? Please help!![]()
Thanx,
Elena![]()

What I mean is that PAL DVD is 25 fps. You can't just convert it to 24 fps and use it.
Film look and feel doesn't just come from framerate, it comes from lighting, focus, depth of field etc. These are all things done during shooting, not a quick software fix.
If you are serious, google for film look. There are several sites with tips and techniques that might help. RedGiant even has a plugin for most editors called Film Looks, part of the Magic Bullet suite. It can do some pretty clever stuff to video to make it more film like, however it takes a grunty machine and is still very slow.Read my blog here.

Because 23.976 fps is called "film" doesn't mean it will have a "movielike" look.
I assume you can play PAL 25 fps, so you have no need to try to change it. There is no way this would improve the look of the film, and a lot of ways you might degrade it in the process.
Look at colour saturation, sharpness, etc, etc, if you want to try to smarten up your video. -
Good advice all around. Yeah, frame rate change isn't necessary. If you want to emulate the look of film, it should be done during filming. Check out the Brevis 35 lens adapter, which adds some of the magic to DV.
Check it out. Brevis 35 on a commercial shoot. Short depth of field is big factor as well to create the film look.

Thanx for the replies. I'm not a big expert...I'm slowly learning, so I must have got something wrong...I thought there was still some little trick to make an avi look more professional using a frame rate conversion. Where does one use 24 and where 25 frames?

23.976 Frames Per Second is considered that "dreamy" film stock look. But your video is already 25fps. I promise you won't notice a difference between the two. Plus, you'll have to worry about audio synchronization issues.
Here are some beginning articles. There are many.

Your video is 25 fps, which is PAL and Italy is a PAL country. Perfect. -

And again note : 95% of what is being suggested here needs to be done during the shoot, not in post production when the damage has been done.Read my blog here.

If your source is interlaced and you prefer the jerkiness of film you can deinterlace.
