    Hi all,

I'm having problems getting the "default" subtitles (e.g. the subtitles seen in the theatres) to display correctly when ripping with DVD Decrypter and AutoGK. Example movies being Babel (subtitles showing all the time, even during English dialog) or Letters from Iwo Jima (subtitles not showing at all).

Unfortunatley, I can't remember exactly what subtitle settings I selected each time in DVD Decryptor, so can someone point me to the correct procedure for making sure the "default" subs are included in the rip? Again, I'm only talking about the subs I would have seen in the theatre, not extra subs that would have to be enabled in the DVD player. (I hope that made sense :P )

    Thanks!

  2. Hi-

It's not a good idea to touch anything in the Stream Processing Tab of DVD Decrypter. Decrypt using IFO Mode, and if the Streams.txt you get doesn't tell you what you need to know, open the VOBs in DVDSubEdit when you're done and go through each subtitle stream until you find the one you want. In the upper right, in the Subpics section, there's a dropdown box where you can choose one stream at a time to examine. Then you can scroll around and see if that's the one you want. When setting up AutoGK, you then choose that same stream. That's one way to figure out the subs you want.

I don't know if Babel or Letters From Iwo Jima had Forced Subs or not. Maybe someone else can answer. Remember though, if they have their own subtitle stream, they aren't considered Forced Subs. For the purposes of AutoGK, Forced Subs are a small part of a much larger subtitle stream that also contains the regular dialog. So, if you check the Forced Subs box, and they have their own stream, you'll wind up with nothing.

Thanks manono. I should have mentioned that I have been using IFO mode in DVD Decrypter. I'll give it a go.
