Alright now..... I just downloaded the movie "Black Hawk Down" (from an anonymus source) and today in school my teacher was telling me about how much he liked the movie. So I was thinking about puttin it on a cd for him. But what if he thinks that I am a bootlegger or something??? Could he turn me in? Is this Illegal??? I would'nt sell it to him, just give it to him.

    Should I or Shouldnt I??

  2. It depends.. if you're teacher is ok with pirated stuff and when I say OK I mean if he/she doesn't care if it's pirated or not. If he/she isn't then don't do it... you can be put into jail for that.

  3. Yes in terms of law it is illegal, but no nothing can happen to you, if he tried to turn you in the cops wouldnt give a damn, and if they did you would get like a 20$ fine/warning, its a joke.

At our school people have brought DivX movies in and watched them on the computers during class time hahaha.

Cops wont care as long as your not making a substantial profit off of selling movies. Like at least $5000 a year.

Actually it is not even local jurisdiction. It is federal, and if you gave it to your techer, and he told someone, they would still have to prove that you gave it to him. It would be his word against yours, unless he had witnesses. Now if you were known for selling these movies, then someone that got caught with one could easily be turned by the feds (I'm assuming you are high school students hence easily impressionable) and buy more off of you, this would, of course, be under close surveillance and bang they got you....... Remember if you give it to him, and he tells (Why would he, you're doing HIM a favor?) They still can't touch you. Just because he said YOU gave it to him doesn't mean it's so, it still has to be proven.

  6. I doubt VERY seriously the police force in your area would give it their attention, I would hope they have bigger fish to fry....as long as you dont SELL it to him, you will be fine.

  7. I don't think it's illegal, since you aren't selling it or giving away a boxload of copies. The DVD is already in process (estimated release ~May 2002, about the time it finally stops playing in the teeny 48-plex mall theaters), he might want to wait and drop 25 bucks and watch it in ultimate 720x480 Dolby DTS video/audio quality.

The extras on the DVD are rumored to be really nice. If it's anything like the best editions of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner and Gladiator, this sucker will be on 2 discs and it'll be a treat as far as the tchnical and historical featurettes.

May is a long way away, but it'll surely be worth the wait.

  8. Yes it is illegal but I have given many bottleg copies of movies and stuff out @ school. Some teacher are cool with it, even ask people if they can give um a copy of a cd/tv show/movie/music video/ect.
Some teachers I would never give a copy to, they would get me in deep shit.

  9. Is it illegal? Yes
It is like giving someone a car you stole. Is it illegal that you gave it to him, no. It is the fact that is is stolen in the first place.

Would you get caught? Probably No

Cops dont give a damn. If they did do something it would be all of a warning and maybe confiscation of a cd
