I have an HP Compaq 6710b Notebook with a 15.4" diagonal screen, (1280x800 pixel). I want to attach it via its VGA connector to my Epson EMP-S3 projector which has a native format of 800:600. I want to keep the projector set for 16:9 mode and show a stretched version of my PC screen that fills it.

For playing DVDs I can do this conversion using KMPlayer and it works perfectly. There is no additional hardware required so the conversion must be computed. Is there a means of doing the same thing for the PC's screen as well? If so where can I obtain the software?

    Regards

There is no "conversion" that takes place when outputting the desktop...hence no software. You have to adjust your desktop settings (resolution and refresh rate) to fit your projector.

    Hi Krispy,

Thanks for your reply, I've managed to strike a compromise as you suggest. I was just wanting a solution that didn't involve moving the projector optics but accept that it's not that simple.

    Cheers

I don't think that's what Krispy Kritter is talking about in their reply. They're talking about adjusting the settings on your video card (resolution, refresh rate, etc) to more properly match the projector.

Sorry, I may have confused the issue a little.
I've changed my Desktop settings and it almost does what I want but I still need to change the Wide-Screen adjustment to accommodate the picture height within the projection screen area (which is curtained off).
I'ts not so bad to worry anymore and I accept that it's a physical issue.
