Is there any way to improve the quality of audio of frame serving with DVD2AVI? If I use DVDx to rip, the audio quality is excellent. However, the video is not as good as other encoders. And, since I am ripping to NTSC I have little choice in encoders for DVDx. DVD2AVI encodes the audio down to 192KHz which really does sound like crap.
Any ideas?

hrm? 192 khtz...do you mean like 192 kbit/s? anywayz, the bitrate of the audio depends on the source that you are extracting from...nothing to do with dvd2avi. i believe there are some really high quality tracks on the dvd and some lower ones too.
i.e. deep impact had a 192 kbit/s track (track 1) that made crackling noises during high-pitched scenes... i switched to another track (track 2) which was 448 kbit/s which got rid of the crackling noises.
i've mainly heard of people complaining about the downsampling of tmpgenc itself, not any audio problems for dvd2avi. dvd2avi is actually a good proggie to improve the quality of your audio (i.e. normalizing and downsampling) over tmpgenc, but just takes dvd2avi longer time to extract the audio. -
Uh, yeah....kbits. Thats what I meant. I see. Interesting, what are the tracks?
For Example:
Track 1 Prologic
Track 2 Dolby Digital
Track 3 French
and so on? -
ok...just select a track like normal....(i.e. in dvd2avi, goto audio->track->track #)
then press f5. an info box should appear. in the middle of the box should indicate the audio info (i.e. kbit, type, frequency, etc.)
basically, dvd2avi can only extract dolby digital tracks (DD)...also, with the info box, you can preview the kbit of the audio track before you extract it...choose the track with the highest bitrate...
however, make sure you choose an english track and not some foreign language, unless that's what you want...
then, just create project like normal -
Try vob2audio to rip the sound to a greatsounding wav, then encode that with tmpgen or what encoder you like most.
Tried it once and now a use it as standard.
