  1. I'm having a problem with the "Alparysoft Deinterlace filter" for AVISynth in this one video... After saving a .d2v project (wherein i combined .vob files that were PAL, 720x576, 25fps) using DGIndex and opening this AVISynth script in VirtualDubMod: ...

    LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\DGDecode.dll")
    LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\AlparySoftDeinterlace.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("VTS_02_0.d2v")
    ConvertToYV12(last)

    ASDeinterlace_SubRegion(0,0,720,576)

    AlparySoftDeinterlace(last,4,16,48,8192,0,false,tr ue)

... the Deinterlace filter works poorly, with some combing effects still there, and a green bar appears at the bottom of the screen. even after trying to encode it, thinking that it was only slow on preview, i still get green bars at the bottom of the video output and there would still be some combing effects left.

... what can i do? any help would be very appreciated.

  2. I hope you didn't pay money for that thing.

Since DVD video is already YV12, you don't need to convert to YV12. I've never used that deinterlacer, but there are other AviSynth deinterlacers as good or better, and much faster (and free), I'm sure. Try LeakKernelDeint or Yadif.

And that's if you really need to deinterlace, and I'm not convinced that you do. Maybe if you were to upload somewhere a small 10 second piece of the source so we could have a look...

  3. Thanks again manono for the reply! .. yeah i didn't pay for it. hehe... but it's quite nice as a deinterlace filter with their fancy "Area based motion estimation", which sounded so distinguished that i couldn't help but try. hahaha. i've been lookin for better ones, thanks for the recomendations. im sure they're better. maybe i'll try uploadin again. but i think i can take it from here. thanks. i think tryin the other filters you said would be the right thing to do.

  4. oh yeah, there is a way to convert PAL to NTSC right? or inverse telecine it.. or something? which would be better than deinterlacing right?

  5. The other 2 AviSynth deinterlacers (as well as others) are also motion adaptive. They give full resolution to static areas of the picture and just deinterlace the motion parts. I mentioned those 2 because they are about the fastest good ones.

Or something, yes. That's why I suggested uploading a small piece of the source. It looks like a movie and movies are, by definition, progressive. You might have to field match or IVTC, but you shouldn't have to deinterlace.
