  1. I have nero 7 ultra and can't seem to do exactly what I want.

First I have about 12 small size .avi files that I want to create a main menu for. I'd like the main menu to have 12 thumbnails of the videos so the user can just press on any of the thumbnails to play it. I also want a Play All option somewhere os they can just play them all in a row.
If nero ultra doesn't do this can someone recommend a good software package so I can do it?

Lastly, and this may be asking too much. I'd like to have another option somewhere for pictures to play like a slideshow (or even just scroll through them). These are just standard .jpg's.

    thanks.

    First off...

Are you trying to make a DVD video disc with these avi's or are you trying to make a divx/xvid video disc ???

If the latter, you must have a divx ultra certified player to play divx disc's with menus.

If the former, i would convert the files to dvd spec's first with something like ConvertXtoDvd & use the built in menu from it or author the files with TDA.

the newest version of TDA will either convert the files to dvd spec and author i believe or it will make a divx disc with menus, i believe also.

But again, you must have a divx ultra certified player to play divx disc's with menus, not just any divx/dvd player will play them with menus.

I don't do these things so i'm not sure about building divx disc's with menus.

Either way, i would not use nero for either task 8)

And i know both TDA & ConvertXtoDvd give you a play all button option...
Not sure if ConvertXtoDvd gives you animated/motion thumbnails on menus ( i think the newer release is going to) but TDA does.

Anyone know any more specifics ??

You might have mentioned that in your first post. Nowhere is the word "DVD" mentioned. It's not at all obvious what you're trying to do, and had you said you're making a DVD, it would have saved Noahtuck some time and effort. And throw away Nero. It's useless.

Step one: Quit using Nero for video.
Step two: Read the guides and the forum on methods to create a good DVD-Video disc.

With all due respect, the title of this thread reads "Help with DVD Menus."

I understand but in doing a search I saw numerous programs mentioned and I was hoping I could get it narrowed down a bit.

I tried TMPGEnc Author 3 and it worked perfectly. Werll, except for one part which I created another thread on. I meant to put it here but messed up.
Thanks for the help and I appreciate the divx/xvid info too as I just bought a philips dvd playher that plays files off of removable storage.

My otehr thread is here in case anyone has any input.

Well... with all due respect, a lot of people want to author divx dvd's with menus and you never mentioned wanting to convert the avi's to dvd format...

Step 3: Run all your files through GSPOT and see what kind of "AVI" compression is currently in use, both for video and audio. Also check out the framerate/fps and resolution. Finally, eyeball it for cropped overscan. Report back for step 4.

I got the dvd created as I wanted but like I mentioned above, I just had one additional thing I wanted to do.

To carry out the task , demux title , then .

1: Dvdauthorgui (to regenerate title with menu inclusions , and new slideshow title)
2: Pgcedit (importing / nav correction)
3: Dvdslideshowgui (put jpgs into slideshow)
4: The gimp or other (background menu creation)
5: Besweet (convert audio to ac3)

Then you'll need some guides which help put it together , however , it would appear I already done this in a guide , just replace the "about" with the new slideshow .

    https://forum.videohelp.com/topic322350.html

    ----

Putting it all together is by using pgcedit , and always work with a copy , or when using the import features , always say yes to copy only ... This way , if there's a major foul up , you can restart from scratch without having affected the original titles .

    ----

Yes , de8212 , I understood from the start what you wanted .
