Ok here is what I have done so far and where I want to be next..... I have several home VCR tapes of the kids, I was able to put about 3 hours (6 tapes) onto a DVD yesterday with my home DVD recorder. Now I want to put this video on my pc, so I can edit out the stuff I don't want. I have copied the Video_TS file on my pc, but when I try to open it in Windows Movie Maker I get the above error message. I take it I must change this file somehow, so this can be imported into Windows Movie Maker so I can edit it, then burn a new one on my (soon to be bought internal DVD burner). If I am way off on how to do this, please let me know![]()
Thanks

Ah! the old accept/expect/except mistake
Should be "won't accept"
If you have TDA, it does a pretty good job of ripping the VOBs to mpg. Just check the "save a copy to disk" option (I think that's what it is called). -
Gerry, thank you so much, I will give it a try,.....
Lost, LOL I can't believe I did that, but if for some reason Gerry's idea does not work I will try yours
Thanks to both of you for the fast responseDonna/Indiana

WMM also does not output MPEG, so you have the choice of DV AVI (Recommended) or WMV. That means you will have to re-encode your video twice to get back to DVD format.
Just my opinion, but you would be better off to use a real MPEG editor such as VideoReDo or MPEG-VCR or one of the all in one editor packages. There's no advantage to re-encoding if you are just doing basic cuts and pastes and you would have much less quality loss.
