  1. hi can anyone tell me how i can make my mpegs have better quality? im currently using TMPEG to see if i can get better quality, but no result, it all looks the same. i want to keep it in mpeg1 form and have it at its best quality. is there any program out there that can make mpeg1 movies have better resolution and have a good overall quality the best an mpeg1 can have? thank you for your time i really appreciate it

  2. MPEG itself is a lossy format. You may not expect it to be as good as the original. When you say quality, you should try a few more encoders yourself and judge the differences.
    I use TMPGEnc and I am satisfied with the quality I get.
    MPEG-1 can be a bit bad on fast moving scenes and in slow moving or stationary scenes it sometimes almost equals the original DVD.

    If I read your question correctly, it sounds like you are starting with something in MPEG1 already, and want to make it a better MPEG1. Is this true? If so, nothing you can do to an existing MPEG will make it better. You can minimize further degradation, but not improve. At least, this is what I have experienced.
