My aunt is getting into authoring menus and such for DVDs for I'm assuming, TV shows and such. Is there any good free software out there? I use DVD Architect, but I'm not sure she wants to shell out that kind of money yet and it's been a while since I've used anything else. Thanks.

GUIForDVDAuthor and DVD Styler are free and relatively easy, however they don't really do anything for you. You have to prep your art work and video before you start the project.

She might be better off looking at one of the starter Ulead products instead. These have a selection of templates and guide you through the process.

My preference is for the gimp (menu artwork / layout) , avisynth , bbmpeg , besweet , dvdauthorgui ... topped off with pgcedit and imgburn .

But for an all in one product , and cheap ($20au) , get into ebay , and grab ulead videostudio 9se ... it'll do the entire lot from start to finish .

Just remember to check your aunts pc specs and os first ... no point in getting her something that she wont beable to install .
