  1. Hey guys. I'm working on putting together some sports highlights compilations for my neighbor (for his son), and I'm trying to figure out what software I can use to draw a circle around a player during a play (or any other similar highlighting method). I found the post that explained the "stop and glow" effect that can be made w/ Adobe Premiere. I followed the tutorial and was able to do this effect, but I really don't like the length it takes to complete this, as I have a lot of clips and will be doing more of these for him in the future.

He showed me a DVD he got from a friend where whoever made it drew a moving circle around the player for a few seconds as the video was playing, and it then disappeared. Unfortunately, he can't get in touch w/ the person who made this to find out how he did it. Can anyone give me some advice? I'm using virtualdub to edit some clips for him - is there any type of filter/tool that anyone is aware of (I searched to no avail). Thank you SO much for any help you can give me.

If you have Premiere then create a circle in a graphics program, save it as a png with transparency so only the circle shows, load this into Premieres overlay track and use track motion to follow the player.

Or you could look at WAX2, a free compositing app.

  3. Thanks for the input. I do have access to Premiere and Photoshop on a friend's PC, but unfortunately I have very little knowledge of the programs. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a quick walk-through, or at least a little more info on using "track motion" to follow the player in Premiere? It would be GREATLY appreciated. I've done a little searching, but haven't found much yet.
