I'm trying to convert several m2t files that I recorded from my set top box via firewire to be playable on a DVD-R disc via my DVD player. I used the "DVD ffmpegx" setting with "author video-ts folder" turned off. Got my mpg files out of that and Toast accepted them and burned them. But when I played them on my DVD player the video was shakey. I'm getting the idea from other posts that I should use "DVD mpeg2enc" instead. But I don't know what I should select and deslect in the options tab to eliminate the shakyness?

[see my reply to your similar post in the Mac forum]

If the shakiness you describe is evident when objects are moving, you may be experiencing interlacing artifacts. Do a quick search for "interlace" or "deinterlace" on these forums if the terms (and their corresponding visual artifacts) aren't familiar.

It could be that the video stream is missing a 3:2 pulldown. This would happen if the framerate is NTSC Film (23.976 fps). Is it?

To add a pulldown with "DVD mpeg2enc," just set the "Set 3:2" checkbox.
To add a pulldown to a "DVD ffmpeg" encoding, get the elementary video stream (demux the .mpg file if needed), use the Pull tool, and Mux as DVD again (setting Authoring is optional).

With one m2t file I had, I tried to de-interlace with frame and field, both failed. I'm thinking maybe because the stream is in HD. It was recorded from NBC, which I think is in HD 24/7...

I'll try the muxing/demuxing process, that might help.

Also, since I already converted all these m2t files to "DVD ffmpeg", which turns out to be a mpg file. Is it too late to get rid of the interlacing/shakey watery effect?
