I've 3 .avi files which are in Xvid format and after using avidemux to join them (append)....using MPC under properties it's telling me it's now DivX? Do I need to install Xvid?

    I've:

    ffdshow_rev1349_20070710_xxl
    MPC - Homecinema v1.0.9.0

    Thanks in advance.

Mode should be set to copy for audio and video when joining. This should produce the same result as Direct Stream Copy mode in Virtualdub - no re-encoding. Worst case it has changed the FourCC code to Divx.

I think you need a separate application to do this. FourCC Changer or similar should do the job. It won't make any difference to the playback.
