    seriously dude, you're constantly ranting about "the hackers"....
    Who the hell do you think you are?? Everyday people don't get "hacked".
    Large companies, governments, militaries -- they get hacked. Not people who want to get rid of Outlook Express and Messenger.

    What exactly is it that you have on you PC that you think the whole world wants to "steal" from you?
    You have got to be the most paranoid person on the internet. Ever.

    You can run, but you can't hide

    Sheesh - you are very gullible - just what sites like browserspy want (if you hadn't noticed, they have ads and that's the point of the site).

    If you look at the source for the pages you will see that most of the "tests" simply run standard HTML or Java *on the client's side* and, because of how the web works, the information is only displayed on the client. Some of the information is seen by the server, but it has to be - things like your IP address etc and other items that are mandatory under the HTTP specifications. Your picture of registered MIME types is a good example of the client-side generation of information.

    this thread reminded me of something.. while there is some threat to all computers that are connected to the net. MOST of the people (not all) that ever have a problem are usually the people that are most worried about it.

    i never give it a second thought. i have no AV or firewall currently running. i do run a check every now and then.. for the record im not running any now because i did a fresh install to a new HD and havent gotten to it yet.. i am on the net full time though and ..blah blah.. i just dont worry. im the guy that leaves car unlocked home doors and windows unlocked garage door open from time to time.. the only thing that has ever happened. is one time a few years ago a kid that was visiting his gpa came over and played with my kid. he ended up taking my Driver (golf club) i noticed it was gone within an hour and got it back. the only other time was when i was in the navy in Virginia and someone broke into my car and stole about 20 cassettes.. i was marreied at the time and it was mostly crap like prince and poison warent etc.. so if i could find the guy i would thank him lol..

    if you're that worried about it run a seprate computer with no net access
    or if no second computer get second hard drive and dual boot though bios as to keep boot.ini seprate. and disable net from the importan os.

    ok sorry end of hijack

    At last, WMP9 has managed to not playback DVD-Video on my PC...
    so I managed to get rid of it (and of NetMeeting as well) in this way:

    -- reboot in "safe mode with command prompt";

    cd "\program files\windows media player"

    del *.*

    cd \
    -- reboot again;

    -- done!

    P.S.: I did have given a try to KillBox, but it did not work.

  5. The next time you need to do a wipe/install , try using Nlite first to create your Windows install disc, you can leave out both Messenger & WMP. Several people have created apps to add in the needed .dll & other files to allow you to still view video thru your (non I.E)browser & to play Windows Media files
