Here's the situation: I have a single mpeg2 file encoded with PowerDirector, the setting was DVD HQ. Its duration is about 1 hour 25 mins.
Can I burn it into a single 4,7GB DVD without losing serious quality?
I'm using Encore for authoring. Is there any special (Encore) setting to do this?
Thanks![]()

Open it with g-spot and confirm it is in fact DVD compliant (See What is DVD - top left corner - if you are unsure)
If it is compliant then you should be able to simply author it and burn, with no further encoding and no quality change at all.
I know that some versions of Encore don't accept the full gamut of DVD compliant video specs. Don't know which version you are using. However if it is compliant then this should be a no-brainer for Encore.Read my blog here.

I'm still using the trial version of encore

When you import the file into Encore, what does it say in 'Transcode Settings' column for the file?
If it's 'don't transcode' - then your file won't be modified at all & you won't lose any quality. -
Actually I didn't check the transcode setting, I wasn't sure what that was.
I was worry about the quality loss when I previewed the finished menu, and tried to play the video. I noticed a significant loss.
Thanks for the advice, I will try it...
