Recording HBO with Dvd HDD!

Hi there I recently purchsed a LG 250GB HDD/DVD Recorder With DivX (LRH-890) and discovered it won't record certain channels such as HBO,starz Etc. When trying to record a caption saying RECORD-BLOCKING SIGNALS DETECTED appears. I've read similar posts in the forum just wondering if it's my model recorder or if this is a fixable problem. Is there some way around this problem?

You do have an issue that is not simple to fix , but there might be a chance by using http://www.xdimax.com/grex/grex.html

I have not yet come acosss anyone with information as to wether it works , or not , so its a chance purchase .

I only know the "red" dose work better than others when it comes down to copy protected vhs to dvd recorders (not combo units) .

That has been a "feature" of recorders for quite a while. I believe it is mandated by US law. Whether or not it is mandated by Canadian law or not I do no know. However I suspect the US and Canadian models are the same so we have it and you get it. It requires that the provider use the broadcast flag. HBO may be requiring it.
