  1. I have used TDA 1.6 for years. Recently I upgraded to TDA 3 since it can authoring the Divx now! .

According the TDA 3 menu, it can also smart render the divx files. Based on my experince on TmpgEnc express. As long as you convert your video resources to DVD compliant format using TmpgEnc express, then TDA can do the smart rendering for these files.

So before I author my divx files, I used the TmpgEnc express 4 to re-encode my divx files based on the "Home Theater profile" setting and pixles resultion are set as 640 x 480, which I believe is also the defalut resultion of the "Home Theater profile" in TDA 3. So the divx files converted from TmpgEnc should be the compliant in TDA 3. However they are not, the TDA 3 still request a full re-encode for all of my divx files.

I also try to convert all my divx files to 720 x 480 resulotion later, but TDA still do the full re-encode for all them.

I am wondering does anybody successfully do a smart rendering for the divx file in TDA3?

For some reason, it seems like all DivX authoring apps also reencodes while they're at it. Don't know the reason for this.
I suspect the lack of interest in DivX authoring, is because it's a proprietary format, with little (comparing with the alternatives) support when it comes to players (both hardware and software).

  5. Finally, I figure out what is going on. I used the TDA 3.0.5 before, which the Divx rendering has flaw. TDA 3.0.8 get improve. After I upgrade to TDA 3.0.8. I can do the divx smart rendering.

But compare to the DVD smart rendering in TDA, divx smart rednering is still very slow, it still take hours for one movie rendering.

    Thanks dessieclive.
