Hey there I've burned some avi files that are xvid codec to a dvd+r discs so i can play it on my divx player i've never had this problem before but some files won't play on my divx player it says this format cannot be played. Most the of avi files play but there will be two or three that don't work. I tried to identify the problem by burning it with different types of blank dvds +/- but that still didn't work. Then i used Gspot to see the exact codec it uses but the files that played had the same codec that didn't... I still can't identify the problem. Any suggestions on what to do to see what the problem is?

Look at the top right corner, under the line Codec(s) are installed. You will notice that the qpel box is lit up. qpel (quarter pixel) is one of the settings that many players do not like. I suspect that you will find that all the files that will not play have either qpel or GMC or both enabled.

Unfortunately, the only way to remove it is to re-encode without it.

AutoGK or AVIRecomp can re-encode these for basic compliance if you want. I have two Divx capable players. One will play files with qpel and GMC to 2 warp points, the other wont play then if either are present. It's hard to tell what will work until it doesn't.
