I have a really weird problem about an mpeg-2 file and SVCD.

I got my hands on a movie which was on a 4 CD span. I copied the SVCDs from a friends CDs and they worked fine in his DVD player.

I got hom etried them.. CD 1 was jumpy and really crappy while Cd 2-4 was excellent... .I figured the first CD must have been scratched on corrupt while trasporting it home. I thought the mpeg-2 file would play from a computer so I copied the mpeg file from CD 1 to my HD and watched it in WinDVD... did'nt work. The sound was fine but not the picture. I then tried to copy CD2-4's mpeg files to my HD and watch them in WinDVD... that worked fine.

I then asked my friend to upload h mpeg file from his first CD 1 to my computer and he did... that file does'nt even have sound and can't be burned...

What shall I do.. what can the problem be?

CD 1 is the problmem, then others are fine.

I have not tried my friend's original CD in my DVD, that's one more thign I should do but since I copied his... I guess it's the same thing on them.

Is there a way to fix corrupt mpeg-2 files?? or check them somewhow?

Please try to help I'm really stuck.
    Thanx/
    Lars

  2. Well first of all, if you think the problem is a scratch on the CD, copying it to your computer isn't going to make it any better. So I would try borrowing that friend's copy first to determine whether the problem really is data loss on your CD or if it is something else.
