I am just getting started with all this stuff. I have win xp and downloaded the huffyuv inf. The install instructions say to right click and select install. Unfortunately, xp does not give you this option. How the heck can I get this codec installed so I can capture lossless video with it?
Any guidance would be appreciated. :o

I have encountered the same problem. I am running XP pro. Is there a difference in the right click options between pro and home? Where did the "install" option go?

I did not have the codec installed before I upgraded to XP. I have no doubt that the codec will work in XP. My question is: How do you INSTALL the codec in XP? Right-clicking on the .inf file does not provide an install option. Surely there must be another way to install the codec?
Thanks for your replies and help. -
I don't know very much about that aspect of XP, but since there's only one user (me) I'm confident I have full access to the OS. If there's a way to check this and you think it might help me install the codec, please advise.

I will assume this is a .rar file. Anyway, extract files to specified folder or double click on file. Then highlight the folder with the extracted files. Go to SFX (creates self-extracting .rar file) button on top bar and doubleclick. You will be then given the option of pressing the install button on the new window. This will extract and install the files. I hope this works for you.

Thanks. Something about using winrar to unzip instead of pkzip made the diffrence, and I got an install option.

Hi,
I have a problem with the installed Huffyuv codec under Windows XP Prof. (upgrade from W2k). This codec does not appear in the list of video compressors in the VirtualDub 1.4.8.
I installed this codec after XP upgrade. But the DivX codec appearing in list (nothing else).
Thanks for advance.

Truman gave me this advice:
In Order to have huffyuv to be recognized by windows as a YUY2 codec you have to manually add this line to the system.ini [drivers32-section]:
VIDC.YUY2=huffyuv.dll -
sommersby:
"Installed fine for me under XP."
A little Hope... :-)

Unfortunately, this is not work.
I tried "driver32" (this is the original section) and "drivers32".
More codecs not appearing.
Thanks,

The Huffyuv and other codecs (e.g. Pegasus Wavelet, PicVideo) appears in the Control Panel, but not seems in VirtualDub.
