You have no grasp of semantics either.
Buying a disc and having to watch a commercial saying that if you breathe, you are a criminal is wrong on so many fronts.

No such thing except the ads that are clearly marked. Doing that would be found out in a short time, about the same amount of time it would take Google to keel over and die from the flak. More ads have slowly crept in over the years but the results are organic.Originally Posted by lordsmurf

You are contradicting yourself. I was just comparing the material with the immaterial, like you did. Comparing the destruction of a picture to murdering the subject is the same as comparing ripping a disc (even one that you own) to physically breaking in to your neighbor's house and depriving him of property.Originally Posted by groovyone
It is that kind of thinking that gets laws interpreted so illogically. It should all fall under copyright violations, rather than theft, but a few back-asswards judges actually listen to the whole "theft" claim. You cannot steal that which is ethereal. How am I "taking someone's content" when I have bought the disc? I simply ripped parts out for a compilation or to play on my iPod. Yes, there are pirates (yarg!) who go much further, but it's still only copyright infringement at its base.
Here's some interesting (rather old) reading from a colleague. It will now be my sig.

Keyboard>Chair stupidity factor, however, overrides your assertion. And "clearly marked" is up for debate.Originally Posted by thecoalmanWant my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
