    Wrong......

You still have the physical object.

You have no grasp of semantics either.

Buying a disc and having to watch a commercial saying that if you breathe, you are a criminal is wrong on so many fronts.

No such thing except the ads that are clearly marked. Doing that would be found out in a short time, about the same amount of time it would take Google to keel over and die from the flak. More ads have slowly crept in over the years but the results are organic.

You are contradicting yourself. I was just comparing the material with the immaterial, like you did. Comparing the destruction of a picture to murdering the subject is the same as comparing ripping a disc (even one that you own) to physically breaking in to your neighbor's house and depriving him of property.
It is that kind of thinking that gets laws interpreted so illogically. It should all fall under copyright violations, rather than theft, but a few back-asswards judges actually listen to the whole "theft" claim. You cannot steal that which is ethereal. How am I "taking someone's content" when I have bought the disc? I simply ripped parts out for a compilation or to play on my iPod. Yes, there are pirates (yarg!) who go much further, but it's still only copyright infringement at its base.

Here's some interesting (rather old) reading from a colleague. It will now be my sig.

    And to fully illustrate it:

Keyboard>Chair stupidity factor, however, overrides your assertion. And "clearly marked" is up for debate.

It is ROF in disguise. He believes that if we buy his stuff, we are thieves. I wonder what gives him the right to label everyone other than him a thief.

He kind of reminds me of a drug dealer with a Support Your Local Police sticker on his bumper.

Need I remind you that you were once a newbie as well? :P We were all newbies at one point.

People learn at different rates. As long as people have the capacity to learn, there is hope.
