    Hi everybody !
I have created an AppleScript called VideoSpec making use of mplayer, ffmpeg et mgptx binaries to present informations on video files.

You will find at this address the last version of VideoSpec as well as the binaries. Mplayer binary is the one of MPlayer OSX 1.0 rc 1 (macintel version) and ffmpeg binary the one installed by ffmpegX. These binaries have to be in the same folder than VideoSpec.

The script doesn't seem to like my files:
"The command exited with a non-zero status." Nothing more.
This was on XviD/mp3 AVIs and M2V/AC3 MPGs.

And if you'll forgive my nitpicking on a French line in the "en" version: Où est le fichier à analyser ?

Could you send me samples of your files ? I got no errors with samples of the same flavour.
For the "french touch " I will correct that.

OK I got that with your file,

Have you left ffmpeg, mplayer and mpgtx in the same folder than the AppleScript? If so and if you have a powerpc Mac replace the mplayer binary by the one from Mplayer OSX (path:
    /Applications/MPlayer OSX.app/Contents/Resources/External_Binaries/mplayer_ppc.app/Contents/MacOS/mplayer).

    Hi all,
I've just discovered VideoSpec and until yesterday it worked just dandy. Now it will no longer save a text report of a single avi or a comparison or two avis.

I've reinstalled to no avail. I'm unable to find the .plist or other pref file I can nuke and I can't find any other app that does what VS does so skillfully. See screenshot for error msg. even when file is loaded <shrugs>

    Any ideas?

    Hi mhale62,
I am the developer of VideoSpec. I have newer seen this bug before. In fact, there is no pref file in this version of VideoSpec and it is quite strange that this bug appears suddenly. Do you get this error dialog for all files you try to analyze?
I think that it is related to your system and I suggest you first to repair authorizations on your hard disk.
    Hope this help.

Well, that explains why I couldn't find the pref file.

I've only worked with 2 avi files (same video at different sizes) so far.

Now it works I have no idea what's different, I didn't repair permissions although that was my next move. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for your quick response BTW.

Bump: I get the above described error when I drag an avi file onto VS's icon in the dock then select Save report.
If I use the Select File button all works as it should.

    Hi all,
I have just updated VideoSpec in version 0.6.1.

    In this version:
    - Bugs correction during analysis report backup (Thanks mhale62 to reporting me this bug).
    - Analysis report printing added.
    - Detailed AVID files management and addition of corresponding AVID QuickTime plugins.
