So I was converting a VOB file of a dvd that I have, and after it converted, it split the mp4 file into two files, one was a video.mp4 which had the video of the dvd on it and it ran just fine, there was just nothing to listen to. The second file was a audio.mp4 file and it was 0kb large and had nothing on it. What am I doing wrong and how can I get audio and video onto the same mp4 file???

Please post the results of the encoding (the "i" button) and it should provide some info from which we can determine the problem.

On the second time of encoding, it gives me only one mp4 file, but it cannot be played. But I am not sure that it has stopped encoding. It read 101% when I went to check the file, but now it says 102%. . .
Now it says finished, and again, there are two mp4 files. One video, one audio. Video works, no sound, audio file won't even open.

    here is the process info

if anyone could tell me how to use ffmpegx to convert a VOB file to an MP4 file, that would be great too, because i checked the how to section, but i couldn't find a real solution to my problem. I would love anyone's advice.

Go to the audio tab and change the Audio Track pull down to 8. I recently had this problem as well. Ffmpegx thinks the first few streams are audio tracks, but they are really subtitle tracks.

You could even set the dimensions to 16x16 with 200kbps bitrate and do a quick encode of a few of the audio tracks until you find the right one.
