My external Hard Drive, Western Digital My Book WD1600 is not recognized in the DVP5982. It says Disc Not Support. I have it Formatted 160Gig FAT32 partition. Any ideas why it wont see it, or is it just a drive that will not work with the DVP-5982?

With no power supply, the USB hub might not have enough power to support it.
Additionally, 5400rpm and 2MB buffer might be too slow, I believe 7200 with 8MB is recommended or required.
What did you use to format the drive?
    RipIt4Me - DVDdecrypter - DVDShrink - StaxRip - AutoGK - iRiverter - AVI ReComp
    MuvAudio - ImgBurn - Paperless Printer - Nero6 Ultra

I have just started having a problem with My Book WD1600. It worked fine until now....when i try to start from My Computer, I get a message that says the disk is not formatted and do I want to format? I don't think I do because I assume it will overwrite my content ...do I need to reinstall drivers or what? I didn't get any CDs with the drive so don't exactly know what to update the driver with. I have a lot of trouble with this IBM Thinkpad I have - it doesn't seem able to retain anything after even the slightest changes to software/hardware. Thanks for any advice.

  4. run WD diagnostic software just to be sure the drive is still ok or not
