Using StaxRip and the XviD codec, videos encoded up to 3500kbps will play stutter free via USB.
StaxRip Install
Guide 1
Guide 2
In addition to the StaxRip Tool, the correct Templates are also required.
The Templates are an outstanding feature that greatly simplifies the UI.
Templates
Download the templates and copy them to the templates folder.

btw-The video is much better than the pic, also, the video is not zoomed or stretched, this is StaxRip Default Auto crop.
The AR=2.0 > Very little cropping and does a nice job of filling the screen.

I restructured the old Templates with much better results.
It still underpins XviD Exact Size – Bitrate.
After initial video analysis, set bitrate to 3000, and StaxRip calculates the necessary quality.
Adjust quality:
Options > Aimed Quality (percent) > Match StaxRip’s calculation.
At this point resolution can be user defined and locked; however, I prefer the StaxRip defaults.
Run Compressibility Check
New XviD Settings:
Quant Type– H.263 (square pixels) The rectangle MPEG didn’t look right.
Profile- Unrestricted
Adaptive Quant- OFF
QPEL- ON
Max BVOPs- 2
BVOP sensitivity- 10
Packed Bitstream- OFF
Trellis- OFF
VHQ- ON
Chroma motion- ON
Chroma optimizer- ON
I-Interval- 240

I want to maintain original Aspect ratio from the DVD. I think I have to turn off
resize and cropping Isn't it. If I do that resize bar is showing aspect as 1.5.
any help is appreciated
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The NoCrop Template should maintain the original AR of the DVD minus any black bars.
2 other options:
You can resize it manually. Example: 720x480=1.5 Aspect Ratio
1. Load the NoCrop Template
2. Load the video
3. After the analysis, change width and height to 720 and 480
4. Change the quality for desired bitrate or filesize
Options > Aimed Quality
5. Run Compressibility Check - The resolution and aspect ratio are locked.
OR
If you want the aspect ratio and the resolution to be identical to the original (no black bars will be removed if any):
1. Load the NoCrop Template.
2. Hit F8
3. Automation
4. UnCheck "Auto Resize Image Size"
5. Load the video
Hope that helps -
I second that.
I would love to try the templates out. Right now i am just changing things randomly.
Thanks in advance. -

.. I know that most stuff plays ok but I suspect the bitrate is a lot lower than 3500k on these clips. The bitrate spike may be higher, but the average bitrate is only 1500k, I know cos I encoded some of them. I think it may be that when you have AC3 sound encoded then the bitrate required for stuttering is a lot less. I might have to experiment with this and report back. Re staxrip is it more or less difficult than fair use wizard or Autogk??.
What settings do people use on these two other programs? I always have the quality setting to max but this makes encodes take 5, 6 and seven hours..Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons. -

Additionally, anything above 2700kbps is not noticeable and only increases the filesize.
I've tried other progs, and nothing comes close. I also posted this info w/templates on another forum and the geeks(myself included) loved it.
Once you get past the install(w/templates) and the initial familiarization, its a breeze to use.
However, I would recommend segmenting the DVD or isolating the .VOB files into separate folders, otherwise it is one large .avi file instead of segments/chapters.
