Hey, I'm a newbie at this - just downloaded the program today. Is there a way i can convert many files at once instead of one at a time?

The problem with this way of working is that after every file you add, you have to set de dimensions and bitrate again.
For example: I have about 50 movies, which are all different in size and bitrate, and I want to encode them all to the same size and bitrate, I have to change the size and bitrate 50 times while adding them to the queue...
So in short: Is there a way to enter the settings once for all 50 files or not ? VisualHub and MPEGstreamclip both have this option, but I would love to see it in ffmpegX, since ffmpegX has way more options.

I'm not sure what you're asking for. Yes, you understand the procedure correctly. Yes, it's not the most convenient method one could imagine. But yes, it's the best that ffmpegx offers. You can reduce some of the typing by saving the settings as a custom preset. But that's about it. Maybe you can put in a request over at the ffmpegx bugs and suggestions subforum, and Major might add it to his "to do" list.
